Melanie Stevens LLC
Mental Health Counseling
As a Licensed Professional Counselor, Melanie Stevens is trained to treat a wide range of mental health issues. She uses talk-therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) skills in each session to help clients increase awareness and insight into their particular issue. Thinking patterns and behaviors are explored in therapy to relieve clients of unwanted, negative symptoms disrupting their life and relationships. Depression and Anxiety Disorders are the most frequently explored mental health concerns among clients.
Depression knows no bounds and can affect people of all ages. It can occur without any triggers and can leave you feeling sad or hopeless about everything. There may be every reason in the world to be happy and yet the ability to experience joy or pleasure is absent. Symptoms are often experienced through feeling numb or sad most of the day, losing interest in activities once enjoyed, changes in appetite and weight, decreased energy levels, feeling fatigue, and difficulty concentrating. Depression causes negative self-talk to become prominent (self-defeating statements), usually accompanied with feelings of worthlessness or guilt. It affects the ability to function in managing activities and daily living. A decrease in personal hygiene habits can be an indicator. Statistics show regular counseling can help reduce these symptoms and bring relief to the client. Melanie Stevens works with a wide range of mental health issues.
