There are many prevalent health concerns for women. Often times, physical health problems can play a role in disrupting emotions and mood stability. Women need a place to express their mental health concerns without fear of judgement and to know they do not have to go through difficult times alone. When life is a struggle, there could be underlying destructive thoughts or feelings that need to be expressed. Stevens Counseling does not want any woman to feel alone in what she is experiencing and strives to help each woman process all the things in order to find relief and solutions that work.

Perinatal Mood & Anxiety Disorders (PMAD)
As many as 1 in 7 moms (1 in 10 dads) experience symptoms of depression and anxiety during the postpartum period. People of every age, income level, race and culture can develop Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders during pregnancy and the first year after delivery. Symptoms can be: void of feeling, lack of interest in the baby, extreme worries, feeling angry or panicky, scary unwanted thoughts, etc..
Perinatal Loss
The loss of a child is significant. Parents who are grieving the loss of a child may experience some emotional and mental health symptoms, which is a normal part of the grieving process. If the symptoms worsen, you may be experiencing a mood disorder. Perinatal loss includes a miscarriage, still birth, and loss after delivery due to medical complications.
Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD)
Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder is a severe form of premenstrual syndrome that includes physical and behavioral symptoms. Onset of symptoms may occur during ovulation and persist until menstruation. PMDD causes extreme mood shifts that can disrupt work and damage relationships. Symptoms include extreme sadness, hopelessness, irritability or anger, plus common premenstrual symptoms such as breast tenderness and bloating. Symptoms are cyclical (occur in a pattern month to month) and creates a significant strain on the individual to function and interact socially.
